TOKO Proof products provide optimum protection against rain, wet and dirt for weather protection clothing, and sports and hiking footwear. Thanks to special components which are ideally suited for multifunctional textiles (such as GORE TEX or Sympatex), the effect achieved after impregnation is comparable to the quality of a new article.
Simple application and controlled spray coating in small doses guarantees optimum protection. The fabric is allowed to breathe freely.
The water repellent effect is based on the differential surface tension of the impregnated fabric. The greater the difference in the surface tension of two materials (in our case, fabric surface v. water droplets), the more pronounced the lyophobic effect between them. TOKO Proof products can alter the surface tension of textile fabrics such that water droplets will easily run off.
Most manufacturers of high-quality materials provide a wafer-thin surface coating which already guarantees very good water-repellent qualities. However, this coating is adversely affected and even partly removed by mechanical stress due to the articles being worn and cleaned. Minor heat treatment will restore the surface finish and reactivate the coating. In the light of the aforementioned daily stress factors, however, subsequent impregnation with special products such as TOKO Proof is essential for optimum protection.
Application
In order to achieve an optimum water and dirt-repellent effect, Toko Proof products are applied to a clean and dry fabric surface. The clothing should therefore be cleaned first with TOKO Wash products.
Once the fabric is completely dry, it is ready for impregnation.
Hang clothes on a hanger in a well ventilated room or out in the open and spray all over, slowly and evenly from a distance of approx. 20 cm.
The clothes are then left to hang on the hanger and must be completely dry again prior to use. 100 % protection is achieved after 24 hours.
In order to improve the impregnation effect, jackets may then be left in the tumble-dryer for approx. 5 minutes or be carefully ironed. In the latter case, care should be taken to ensure that a cloth is placed between the iron and the item of clothing
