Tour de Ski Oberhof, Pursuit 10 / 15 km
Saturday, 01/01/2011
The action continued today with the women's and men’s pursuit races in Oberhof.
In the women’s event, in the absence of the strong Marit Björgen from Norway, Poland’s Justyna Kowalczyk took clear leadership in the overall standing. A surprising second was young Krista Lahteenmaki from Finland.
In the men’s event, around 40 athletes completed almost the entire race bunched up in a pack. On the final ascent, Olympic winner Cologna put on a sprint, crossing the finishing line first. An equally surprising second was Canada’s Davon Kershaw. Still in with a chance are the Toko-sponsored joint favourites Lukas Bauer and Axel Teichmann, in overall 13th and 10th place with a slight time deficit.
The action will continue tomorrow with the classic sprint in Oberstdorf, Bavaria. We will continue to keep you updated.
