Tour de Ski Oberstdorf, Pursuit 10 / 20 km

Monday, 01/03/2011

The Tour de Ski continued with the so-called double pursuit, the fourth race in Oberstdorf, Bavaria. Before the first of two rest days tomorrow, there was a chance to witness some exciting battles in beautiful weather. In both the men’s and women’s events, the lead changed continuously, in pursuit of the time bonuses in the intermediate sprints. Finland’s Matti Heikkinen was surprising strong in the last very steep uphill section in the men’s event, as was Sweden’s Anna Haag in the women’s race. Giving them their first victories this year.
The overall leaders, Dario Cologna and Justyna Kowalczyk, are still safe, leading by 45 seconds and 1.29 minutes respectively, and finishing shortly behind the winners in today’s events.
The action is set to continue the day after tomorrow with the freestyle sprint, then on January 6th with the 16 and 35 km freestyle race from Toblach to Cortina in beautiful south Tyrol. We will continue to keep you updated. Weather: sunny, cold
