IBU Meeting Oslo

Last week, the annual IBU Meeting was held in Oslo. This year, the event was organised by three large Norwegian companies: SWIX, Madshus and Rottefeller acted as joint hosts. The meeting is attended by all IBU partners, ski companies, wax companies, producers of ammunition and weapons as well as all other suppliers of biathlon.

The meeting was opened by the president of SWIX Sport AS, Ulf Berknes, in the redesigned headquarters. Subsequently, Martin Kuchenmeister and Felix Bitterling presented IBU’s achievements of the last season. Also, there was a panel discussion with Anders Besseberg, president of the IBU. He illustrated projects and structures of the IBU and gave an overview of the future of the biathlon union.

Apart from various details of the rules and regulations, the world cup and IBU race calendar was also discussed and approved.

After this informative part, the evening hours werde spent with a dinner on a chartered boat among the Norwegian fjords.

On Wednesday, the last details regarding advertisement regulations, information about service sections on events and other organisational issues were being discussed.

These meetings are important for a smooth course of events in the winter and provide a strategical overview so that biathlon can continue to count amongst the most popular sport.

After this, the TOKO guys journeyed on to Oberhof to attend the big XC Skitest “powered by TOKO”. Information and results are to follow.
