WC Kitzbühel

The downhill race on the difficult Streif in Kitzbühel is the last chance for many athletes to get a ticket to the World Championships in Schladming. There were three trainings from Tuesday till Thursday so that each skier was able to search for his personal perfect route. The piste was in good condition. After light snowfall in the night from Thursday to Friday, some spots were prepared again with water. With dropping temperatures and a lot of slipping, the Streif became quite icy in some passages.

WC Wengen

The men’s skiing world cup took place at Wengen on the Lauberhorn leg this weekend. The downhill leg was prepared with water beforehand so that the fresh snow could be more easily be removed from the piste. One week before the world cup race, the upper part of the leg was used for European cup races. Both downhill trainings at the beginning of the week could be conducted in good but cold weather. The third training that was planned for Thursday, had to be cancelled due to too much fresh snow.

Of one who likes yellow

After the Worldcup week at Oberhof that was not really blessed with the best weather, the teams travelled to Ruhpolding last week. But the weather there was just as bad, without fog, though.

Until Sunday, it gradually got better day by day. There was a lot of work for the technicians, rain at the beginning, then snow and on Sundy, everybody was surprised that the sun still existed.

There were no surprises on the podium. The three male winners all came from France, for the women, names like Gössner, Berger, Henkel etc. were mentioned.

WC Adelboden

In great weather, the giant slalom could be performed at Adelboden on Saturday as well as the slalom on Sunday. On Friday, about 20 cm of fresh snow came down which were got rid of by many voluntary helpers and the civil defences/army. The piste had been prepared with a lot of water at the beginning of January. Due to the low temperatures, the piste became hard, if not icy.

Tour de Ski

The 7th holding of the Tour de Ski will be remebered as the most exciting race in history. After three of seven races, the first 3 men were only 11 seconds apart. Thus we had to wait for the final result on Alpe Cermis. Alexander Lekov (RUS) showed the most perseverance and won the arrival at the mountain. Last year’s winner Dario Cologna had to accept the 2nd place. The Russian triumph was completed by Maxim Vylegzhanin on 3rd place.

One hard week is over, the next one is already waiting.

Until Christmas, we had the loveliest winter here, more than one metre of snow. However, Santa Claus did not only bring presents but also thawing. It feels like it has been raining for two weeks which didn’t make the whole thing any easier.

The most wanted products were by TOKO. All products from the Care Line were applied, whether Textil Proof or Soft Shell Proof.

The fog took the view from the athletes, and we don’t have a solution for this problem just yet.

WC Bormio

The last downhill race of 2012 was held in Bormio under excellent weather conditions. The Stelvio slope was in good shape but difficult. As always, there were a lot of humps and bumps. Everyone expected a race with great time differences as the leg demands everything from the skiers and they lose strength in the last part of the leg.
